Israeli occupation authorities yesterday forced Palestinian Abdullah Salaimeh to demolish his own home in the Wadi Qaddum neighbourhood of Silwan, in occupied East Jerusalem, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.
Salaimeh was notified on 18 August of the decision to demolish his house in which his family of 14 have lived since 2010. He faced paying fines of up to 120,000 shekels ($32,690) for occupation forces to demolish it.
Israeli occupation authorities regularly claim Palestinian structures lack the necessary building permits and need to be demolished. However, planning consents are rarely issued to Palestinians in Jerusalem.
