The British foreign secretary on Saturday reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire over rising tensions in Lebanon, urging diplomacy to restore security, Anadolu reports.

David Lammy, in a phone conversation with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, said they agreed on the need for an immediate ceasefire “to bring an end to the bloodshed.”

“A diplomatic solution is the only way to restore security and stability for the Lebanese and Israeli people,” he wrote on X.

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalated to an all-time high on Saturday after the latest Israeli strikes killed Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah and top commanders.
