A Moroccan minister said yesterday that the kingdom’s security services repelled 644 cyber attacks in 2024, Anadolu reported.
This came during a meeting between the Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defence Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, and parliamentarians, according to a statement issued yesterday by the Moroccan Parliament.
“In light of the escalation of threats and the increase in cyber attacks, the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) implemented in 2024 enhanced protection measures for the security of information systems of vitally important bodies and infrastructures,” the minister said.
He explained that 644 cyber attacks had been identified, 134 of which required field interventions from the Centre for Vigilance, Monitoring and Response to Information Attacks.
According to the minister, “to enhance resilience and flexibility, 64 vital electronic and mobile platforms were evaluated and reinforced, and 16 alerts were issued due to critical vulnerabilities.”
According to the minister, the directorate issued “1,050 notifications and 575 security bulletins, and carried out 25 interventions in the security operations centres of seven agencies to immediately confront threats.”
He did not highlight the source of cyber attacks.
