A Jordanian court has sentenced Salem Al-Falahat, secretary-general of the opposition Partnership Salvation Party (PSP), to five years in prison with hard labour, Arabi21 reported.

Jordanian sources told the news site that some members filed a complaint against Al- Falahat, alleging they never signed the party’s membership forms.

The ruling is subject to appeal.

Falahat is known for his criticism of government policies.

In April last year, the highest administrative court in Jordan issued a final decision to dissolve the party, which was founded in 2017 by a group of Jordanian figures, some of whom defected from the Islamic movement.
