Hamas government denies presence of Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Gaza

February 11, 2014 at 10:07 am

The Palestinian government in the Gaza Strip has denied the allegations made by Egypt’s interim Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim to the Egyptian media about the presence of Muslim Brotherhood leaders in the Gaza Strip, including the group’s Deputy Supreme Guide Dr Mahmoud Ezzat.

Yusef Rizqah, a political advisor to Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, said that what is being circulated in the Egyptian media is a false allegation aimed at creating tensions between the two sides.

He also described the allegations in Egyptian media against Hamas as “fabrications”.

He noted that the governments in Egypt and Gaza are still in contact over several issues that concern both sides.

Interior Minister Ibrahim told Egypt’s Al-Youm channel that Dr Ezzat is currently in the Gaza Strip.
