In recognition of Bab Rizq Jameel’s contributions to job creation, Engineer Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel has been honoured at the opening ceremony of the 29th session of the GCC Ministers of Labour. From 2003 to the end of August 2012, BRJ created more than 230,000 jobs in Saudi Arabia and around 300,000 more in other Middle East countries.

Mr Jameel thanked the ministers for the recognition: “I represent more than 700 of my colleagues in 36 BRJ branches in the Middle East.” The young people his company have placed in employment also deserve thanks, he said.

BRJ has provided more than 1.3 billion Saudi Riyals to finance small projects in order to create jobs. “We are looking to reach the one million job opportunities figure within a few more years,” added Jameel.

He suggested that the GCC Ministers of Labour should merge all government and private groups responsible for job creation under one umbrella, and to create a network of branches across the region as a service to the community. According to Engineer Jameel, this will enable the unemployed to gain access to employment in a more effective way. He said that by linking such branches with higher and vocational education institutions, job seekers’ needs and special employment requirements will be provided for. In conclusion, Mr Jameel thanked the government of Saudi Arabia for its support for BRJ’s projects, and said that the best contribution that a businessman can make to his society is to create job opportunities for young men and women.

Note: BRJ has 36 branches, of which 26 are in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 5 in Egypt, 2 in Syria, 2 in Morocco and one in Turkey.
