Al Khodary calls on international officials to convert statements into actions to end Gaza’s siege

Jamal Al Khodary MP and Chairman of the People’s Committee Against the Siege, called on international officials to convert their statements into actions in order to end the Israeli siege on Gaza, which has continued for more than 1,000 days.

In a press statement, Al Khodary stressed the need to follow-up these statements with practical action on the ground. He also insisted on the importance of translating these statements and solidarity visits to Gaza as well as the positions of the European Parliament and recommendations of Justice Richard Goldstone and Richard Folk into actions.

Al Khodary commented on the statements made by director of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Jerusalem, Philippe Lazzarini, describing the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as “a crisis for human dignity”,  saying that, “These statements describe the situation fairly, but they are yet to be converted into a lifting of the blockade.” He questioned “the steps taken by the United Nations to address the humanitarian crisis and dangerous statistics issued daily on the situation in Gaza by both the People’s Committee and the officials visiting the Strip.”

Al Khodary said that the Europeans’ statements also reflect the international failure to take decisions to end the siege on the Palestinian people, stressing the need to force the Israeli Occupation to open the commercial crossings with Gaza and proceed with projects aimed at ensuring steadfastness at the international, Arab and Muslim levels.
