Hamzawy: Egypt's 2014 constitution renders military custodian over state

March 8, 2014 at 3:18 pm

Amr Hamzawy, professor of political science at Cairo University criticised public figures who defend the 2014 constitution which does not enjoy sufficient public approval and does not reflect popular consensus.

In his latest article in Shorouk newspaper, Hamzawy pointed out that the 2014 contitution does not fully protect the rights and freedoms of Egyptians and grants the military a custodianship status above the state.

Those public figures did not only lobby fort he approval of this flawed document, but they also ask others to remain silent and refrain from criticizing the constitution after its approval.
