April 12, 2014 at 2:45 pm

Mohammad Ali Bishr, Minister of Local Development during the rule of ousted President Mohammed Morsi, denied reports that he was assigned by the Global Organisation of the Muslim Brotherhood to take over as acting leader of the group.

In a statement published in response to reports in the Egyptian media, Bishr said the media should “implement accuracy and objectivity in what they publish, especially at this chaotic phase of the country. They must confirm their claims prior to publication and not publish information from anonymous news sources.”

A leading figure in the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohammed Al-Sisi, said in a statement to the news agency Youm7, denied the selection of Bishr for this position, pointing out that had he been selected the news would have been announced on the group’s official website.
