Jewish Agency documents unprecedented rise in Ukrainian immigrants to Israel

The Jewish Agency, said Sunday that the number of Ukrainian Jewish immigrants to Israel increased by 142% during the first four months of the current year compared with the same period of 2013, and that the ratio is expected to increase with the escalation of the crisis in Ukraine.

The Agency mentioned that 762 Ukrainian migrants arrived in Israel during the first four months of the year compared with 315 during the same period of last year.

And increasing the proportion of high immigration, reaching nearly 200 percent in March and 295 percent in April compared with the two months of last year, according to the spokesman said the Jewish Agency on Sunday.

The percentage of rise in migrants is witnessing a notable annual increase, reaching 200 percent in March and 295 percent in April, compared with the same period last year.

Ukraine is home to 200,000 Jews, most of them in Kiev, while Russia has approximately 570 Jewish residents.
