Senior Hamas official in Lebanon Osama Hamdan said last night that his movement would firstly discuss the issue of ending the siege and stopping the ongoing aggression, and then it would discuss the situation of the captured Israeli soldier.

Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, announced last night that it held Oron Shaul as a prisoner of war, an Israeli soldier from the Golani Unit, during a battle with the Israeli army in the east of Al-Tuffah neighbourhood, east of the Gaza city.

Speaking to Al-Jazeera, Hamdan reiterated that the capture represents the “qualitative achievement” of the Palestinian resistance. “We now need a unified Arabic position [towards the Israeli occupation],” he added.

He said he considered the massive celebrations following the capturing of the Israeli soldier a representation of the general mode of the Palestinians towards the resistance and its achievements.

Hamdan said his movement is aiming to find a united Palestinian position regarding the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip.

He explained that Hamas aims to unify the Palestinian demands to meet the hopes of the Palestinians and to afford a united umbrella for them in the local and regional address to the world and the international community.

After a long day of grief because of the Israeli massacre in Al-Shujaya neighbourhood, the Palestinians celebrated and catered deserts to journalists and mass media in the wake of Al-Qassam announcement that they had captured the Israeli soldier.
