Report: Gazan tricked into selling Banksy mural for $175

A Palestinian man in Gaza has claimed that he was tricked into selling a mural by British artist Banksy for less than $175 (£118).

The internationally-renowned graffiti artist visited the Gaza Strip in February, using the rubble as a canvas for his art.

According to a report by the BBC, Rabie Darduna was “duped” into selling a painting that Banksky had left on the only remaining door of his house, one of many thousands of homes destroyed by Israel last year.

A local man bought the piece from Mr Darduna for $175, even though Banksy’s work can sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The BBC reported that Banksy’s representative had contacted the family “to say the artist believes the picture should be returned.”
