Hamas yesterday condemned the prison sentence handed down by an Israeli court to Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, the Anadolu Agency reported.
Earlier yesterday, the Israeli Central Court in Jerusalem sentenced Salah to 11 months in prison on charges of “inciting violence”.
Hamas Spokesman Sami Abu-Zuhri said: “Hamas condemns the Israeli sentence against Sheikh Raed Salah and considers it an extension of the Israeli aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
Salah’s eleven-month prison sentence is to start on 15 November.
The Israeli public prosecution had demanded he be imprisoned for between 18 to 40 months.
