A member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council said on Friday that the Jerusalem Intifada has put the Palestinian cause back to the top of the international agenda, Quds Press has reported.
“The political movement regarding Al-Quds Intifada has not been proportionate because of the inflammable international situation,” said Nabil Amr. “However, there has been international interest with the issue.”
He pointed out that although the Palestinian cause was already more or less off the international agenda, all of the global powers headed back to Palestine after the outbreak of the uprising.
The Fatah official suggested that the intifada is not expected to develop to the level of the first and second uprisings because it began arbitrarily, without factional support. Indeed, he expects that none of the factions know much about the uprising as they had no role in igniting it.
Amr concluded his statement by revealing that the Palestinian Authority has been under “pressure from different directions” and so is “unable” to adopt or quell the intifada.
