Algerian nationalist Djamila Bouhired has praised the steadfastness of female Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails, calling on the entire world to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to release them, Pal Sawa reported yesterday.

In a letter sent to the female prisoners, Bouhired said: “From the depth of the Algerian revolution and from the flames of the victory of rebels and martyrs, I am writing to you, the daughters of Palestine, you are the patients inside Israeli jails.”

She compared them with Algerian female fighters, saying: “You have the same fate of your Algerian counterparts, who achieved the glory of free Algeria side by side with the Algerian men.”

Bouhired said that Palestinian female prisoners inside Israeli jails are role models of “resistance and steadfastness in the face of the most vicious and criminal power in the world”.

She added: “You prove to the world that you and your nation deserve freedom and independence.”

The Algerian nationalist said that the end of Palestinian detention is coming soon and it is connected to the end of the occupation. “I wish I could have been with you,” she wrote.

Concluding her letter, she condemned the Israeli imprisonment of Palestinian women and men, calling on the international community to do its duty in working towards freedom for the Palestinians.

“We will not feel happy and our eyes will not be closed until Palestine is free and independent and is returned to the Arabs,” she wrote.
