Head of Zionist Camp and Israeli opposition leader Isaac Herzog yesterday warned that Israel would lose Jerusalem if Palestinian neighbourhoods were not excluded and attached to West Bank, the Anadolu Agency reported.
According to the Israeli general radio, Herzog toured occupied East Jerusalem and said: “Israel would lose its capital, Jerusalem, if Palestinian towns in the outskirts of the city were not separated.”
Israel claims that Jerusalem is its capital; this has been rejected by the international community.
Recently, Herzog announced a disengagement plan in Jerusalem that included the separation of 28 towns in the eastern part of the city which would be added to the West Bank.
Herzog said, in order to maintain Jewish Jerusalem, there must be only a small number of Palestinians in the city and its outskirts.
