Israel arrests 2 fishermen off coast of Gaza

April 27, 2016 at 2:16 pm

Israeli naval forces yesterday arrested two Palestinian fishermen off the coast of Gaza, Quds Press reported.

Palestinian sources told Quds Press that an Israeli warship intercepted a Palestinian fishing boat in the Mediterranean Sea opposite the northern city of Beit Lahia, arresting the two fishermen on board and towing the boat to Ashdod, an Israeli seaport near Gaza.

“The fishing boat did not exceed the limits of the fishing zone permitted by the Israeli occupation,” the sources said, noting that the Israeli occupation’s aggression against Palestinian fishermen “is continuous.”

A couple of hours before the detention of the two fishermen, the Israeli navy opened fire on Palestinian fishermen. No casualties were reported.
