Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi yesterday condemned the expulsion of Yemeni citizens who are originally from the northern provinces from Aden, calling it “racial discrimination”, AlKhaleejOnline reported.
According to the website, security forces expelled Yemeni citizens from Taiz and other northern provinces from Aden.
During a meeting with members of the Popular Resistance in Riyadh, Hadi described this as an “individual” practice. He said he “rejected” the expulsion of any Yemeni.
According to the Yemeni news agency, Hadi said that such acts aim to “mix” the situation in the country, warning against “planting seeds of segregation and racism based on places of residence.”
“Doing this is a service to the Houthi and Saleh militias,” noting that the security services in Aden had to afford and reinforce security. He also called for the Yemenis to cooperate with the security services and not to respond to agendas which aim to complicate the situation in the country.
Meanwhile, Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Obeid Bin Daghr said: “Today [Monday], President Hadi issued a decree to stop all forms of expulsion because they are not constitutional, are illegal and against human rights.”
He added that following the decree, those who had already been expelled can return to their homes.
