An Egyptian criminal court yesterday sentenced the Supreme Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood Mohamed Badie and other 25 members of the group to life sentences over incitement and assassination claims, Quds Press reported.
The case refers to the incidents which took place in front of the headquarters of the Ismailia Governorate in the wake of the bloody crackdown on anti-coup demonstrators in July 2013. Three people were killed and scores wounded.
The Public Prosecution accused the defendants of gathering people, posing a danger to public safety, planning to attack individuals and public property as well as killing and hindering public workers.
This is the third life sentence issued to Badie, who has also received a 10 year jail term. He is currently facing trials on five other charges.
