Both the Syrian regime and the Syrian opposition committed crimes against the country and its people when they resorted to foreign parties to help them in their battle against each other. Syrians used external forces to fight each other until they reached the point that the external forces were interacting and the Syrians stood by to watch. These foreign forces are negotiating the terms for Syria’s future amongst themselves, while the conflicting parties in Syria claim they are concerned with protecting independence, sovereignty and freedom. This situation is foolish and senseless.
It is clear that since the beginning, Syrians were not looking for a solution for the internal crisis. Both sides were, in fact, looking for a quick victory over their internal rival and wanted to completely exclude them from the equation. Each side realised that this dream could come true with the help of external forces. Both sides continuously looked for supporters, backers, funders and arms suppliers, and there were many! This is because incitement has many supporters, and the blood being shed is not the blood of the external forces, but that of Syrians.
A number of forces, both Arab and non-Arab, swooped in to Syria, but their goals were not to liberate its people and protect the country’s future, but rather to serve their own interests and concerns, and they used the Syrian people as a means to achieve them. Some of these forces want to settle the scores with the Syrian regime, some saw the Syrian regime as a base for its activities in the region, and some were looking to comfort the Zionists and please the US. As for the Western countries, they were interested in drowning the Arab world with internal conflicts in order to continue their domination over the country, continue depleting the Arab energy, and reassure themselves over the Zionists’ security.
The Arab countries are driven only by pre-Islamic logic that views internal rivals as the greatest evil facing them and do not hesitate in aiming their bows and arrows at their internal enemies, even if that serves the interests of an enemy working to oppress everyone. The regime resorted to forces abroad, and so did the opposition. Perhaps if we confronted either side with this, they would claim that they were not the first to resort to outside forces and act as if the blood will flow once again when we resolve the issue of the race to hell. The regime and the opposition both acted irresponsibly and dangerously and they did not properly assess the danger that would ensue as a result of calling on outside forces.
The Western nations engaged in polarisation and they told the opposition that the regime would collapse within a week, a month, or half a year at most. The opposition did not take into consideration that the regime had its complaints, just like the opposition. The worst action taken by the opposition was that some of its figure called on Israel and oppressive Arab countries that do not know the value of human beings. This confirms my statement that the Arabs posses more hostility for each other than for the external forces that want to attack them.
America was interested in the destruction of Syria, and that is why its position remained ambiguous, hesitant and lacking vision. It is greatly biased towards the opposition, but it did not want to see a weak party in the war that could lose the war before it destroyed the country. Therefore, America remained on the fence in order to prolong the war and prolong the destruction. We always talk about the pain and sorrow of the Palestinians, but the pain and sorrow suffered by the Syrians at the hands of other Syrians is worse and harsher than that suffered by the Palestinians. The Zionists are criminal, barbaric and savage, but the Arabs are even more barbaric, savage and criminal and they do not respect human rights. If the Arabs believed in human rights, then the Arab regimes would not have practiced such oppression and injustice against Arabs.
Now we come to the results. The results are that the Syrian people are displaced and are suffering from poverty, oppression and a lack of safety and security. Hundreds of thousands of them are buried; that is if they found someone to bury them. Syrian facilities, farms, workshops and infrastructure are destroyed, the Syrian army is exhausted, and the destruction cannot be remedied in less than 50 years. In addition to this, the opposition and the regime are both oblivious while Russia and America negotiate over issues concerning Syria. Meanwhile, the Syrians are hearing about what the others are doing in the news. They ruined Syria; the country of bravery, love and beauty, while they relax on their beds, being entertained in front of television screens.
The foreign forces have interests, and every active force in the Syrian war is looking for a solution that aligns with its interests. Since the interests are all conflicting, then it will not be easy to reach a solution between the foreign forces. The solution now is not being discussed between the Syrians and serving the Syrians, but rather between the forces that are providing soldiers, weapons and money and they are the ones active in talks regarding solutions.
The opposition and the Syrian regime removed their people from the equation and they turned the whole thing into a topic of discussion rather than playing an active role in creating their future. Regardless of what type of situation the external forces are arranging, we must now begin to think about holding all those who harmed Syria and called on foreign parties to wreak corruption and havoc in the country accountable.
