Kuwaiti opposition MPs called on Tuesday for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to expel the Russian ambassadors across the region due to what they have called Moscow’s role in the “genocide” against civilians in Aleppo, and its support for the Syrian regime’s army.
“There is a genocide being committed against civilians in Aleppo amid total international negligence,” explained Jamaan Al-Harbash MP during a protest at the parliament building in Kuwait City. “We call on the Gulf states to expel Russian ambassadors… and to open fund-raising campaigns in our mosques.”
Islamist MP Abdullah Fahad extended the expulsion call to the Iranian ambassadors as well as the Russians.
According to Waleed Al-Tabtabai MP, a protest will be organised in front of the Russian Embassy in the Kuwaiti capital on Wednesday afternoon, over Russia’s role in the Syrian war.
