Nearly $75 million has been raised by the public in Saudi Arabia as part of a relief campaign for Syria, the Anadolu Agency reported.

The drive, launched by Saudi monarch, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, reached $74.2 million three days after it was launched.

After announcing the launch of the campaign, bank account numbers were distributed to the public in order to make their donations. Saudi Arabia’s Channel 1 dedicated its entire service to receiving donations and hosting religious scholars who urged people to participate in the campaign, which is still ongoing.

A statement issued by the Saudi King’s court stated “the campaign is being launched due to the suffering endured by our brothers in Syria, especially those displaced from Aleppo and other areas, who are suffering due to the hardships and painful events they are witnessing.”
