Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh yesterday received an Egyptian delegation in the Gaza Strip to follow up on the Palestinian reconciliation between his movement and its rival Fatah, Safa Agency reported.

The Egyptian delegation entered the Gaza Strip through the Israeli Erez cossing in the north of the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian official in Gaza said that the delegation included General Sameh Kamel and Brigadier General Hammam Abu-Zeid from the intelligence services.

Hours before the arrival of the Egyptian delegation, the Palestinian Minister of Culture Ehab Bseiso arrived in Gaza through the same crossing.

On Thursday, security and media delegations from the occupied West Bank arrived in Gaza to prepare for the arrival of the National Unity Government which is expected to hold its weekly meeting in Gaza today.

The Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and his ministers are expected to take up their responsibilities in Gaza after the meet.

This comes after Hamas dissolved the administrative committee which governed the besieged Gaza Strip on 17 September in Cairo.

Hamas had formed the committee after the unity government had refused to take up its responsibilities when the government was announced without Hamas ministers in April 2014.
