After several days of hail, frost, and turbulent seas which prevented Gaza’s fishermen from catching anything today they were able to catch a substantial quantity of sardines. This is a result of the crashing waves, which brought many schools of sardines closer to the shore.

Sardines migrate to Palestine’s coast during the month of January every year.

Each boat is operated by several people and is estimated to have caught between 70 and 200 kg of fish.

The average cost per kilogram is $4, which make them affordable for medium and low income families.
