Israel recently arrested and charged 16-year-old Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi and is trying her a military court. The case has received global coverage and highlights the occupation forces’ use of military custody against unarmed Palestinian minors.

A report funded by the British Foreign Office in 2012 found Israel’s treatment of Palestinian child prisoners was in breach of Article 76 of the 4th Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (concerning occupied territories), and Several Articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Today  at 14:30 GMT the UK will hold a debate on ‘Military detention of Palestinian children by Israeli authorities’. MEMO will be live blogging the event as it happens.
