An American who is acting as an adviser to the UAE and has strong ties with the Trump administration was arrested in 1985 and charged over child pornography, a new report has claimed.

George Nader was indicted in 1985 with two counts of importing obscene material to the US after a package delivered to his company included photos of nude boys "engaged in a variety of sexual acts," according to court documents.

The charges were eventually dismissed after evidence seized from his home was considered too broad.

Nader had pleaded not guilty.

"Mr. Nader vigorously denies the allegations now, as he did then," a lawyer representing Nader said.
