The Iranian Coast Guard announced the detention of an Emirati boat carrying smuggled fuel off the port of Bandar Lengeh in the Arabian Gulf.
“The boat was stopped in the framework of special operations by the coast guard in Bandar Lengeh,” the head of the coast guard in the southern province of Hormuzgan, Mohammed Thabit, was quoted as saying by the Fars News Agency.
“The boat is equipped with pumping and fuel storage devices, and carrying 250,000 litres of smuggled oil,” Thabit said.
He added that “the crew of the boat includes four individuals who have Indian nationality and have been handed over to the competent judicial authorities.”
