UAE’s Etihad Airways to suspend flights to Tehran

December 20, 2017 at 9:00 am

Etihad Airways announced yesterday that it will suspend its flights to Tehran, Iran, starting from 24 January 2018.

The Abu Dhabi-based airline said that the frequency of the flights from Abu Dhabi to Tehran will be reduced from five flights to two each week from 25 December 2017 to 23 January 2018.

No reason was given for the change in schedule however the airline said it is currently in the midst of a strategy review which was launched in 2016. Etihad Airways had registered a loss of $1.87 billion in that year.

Passengers who have already purchased tickets on the cancelled flights will be offered a refund or be placed on an alternative flight, the carrier added.

The airline has previously announced its plans to halt flights to San Francisco and Dallas in the US.
