Jonathan Schneer is the modern British historian at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has written eight books. His The Balfour Declaration: The Origins of the Arab-Israeli Conflict, won a 2010 National Jewish Book Award in America. He will be the Beaufort Scholar at St. John’s College,Cambridge University in 2018.

This opening session addresses the origins of the Balfour Declaration, featuring historical insights and research into Britain’s motivations and how the Zionist movement successfully persuaded British officials to issue the Declaration.
