Spokesman of the Iranian Exterior Ministry Bahram Qasimi yesterday condemned the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, Quds Press reported.

In a statement, reported by the news site, Qasimi called for the international community to afford “urgent protection” for the civilians in the Gaza Strip from the Israeli attacks.

Qasimi said that the American support for the Israeli occupation and the silence of some states in the region are the “main reasons for the continuous Israeli crimes and terrorism in Gaza.”

Israel has been pummeling the Gaza Strip with airstrikes since Sunday night killing 14 Palestinians and injuring more than 35. The bombing destroyed a number of residential buildings and the headquarters of the Al-Aqsa satellite TV channel.
