Hatice Cengiz, the fiancée of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, could have been killed alongside him, a new report has revealed.

The Istanbul Security Directorate’s annual report revealed that “the security officer who stood in front of the [Saudi] consulate building on the incident day entered the building and transferred some information to those inside,” in reference to the alleged assassination team waiting inside for Khashoggi. “That employee saw Hatice but did not tell them about her,” the report added.

“Had he told them, they might have stopped the execution or the other possibility is that Hatice might have become the second victim of this heinous crime,” the report claimed.

According to recent police reports, Khashoggi’s body parts may have been burned in a grilling furnace at the Saudi consulate.

The report explained that the consulate building includes two water wells, as well as a gas and wood furnace that could reach heat of over 1,000 degrees Celsius which could destroy anything, including DNA traces.

Khashoggi’s body is still missing more than 100 days after the crime.
