March 19, 2019 at 11:11 am

Director of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Mounir Kleibo said yesterday that unemployment and poverty rates in the Gaza Strip hit record highs in recent history, Felesteen.ps reported.

Kleibo made his remarks during a visit of the ILO’s fact-finding mission to Gaza which lasted two days and aimed to document the Israeli violations in the occupied lands.

The members of the mission met with representatives of the Palestine Workers’ Union, public and private sectors and the Social Welfare Fund. They listened to briefs about the situation of workers in Gaza from these representatives.

The Gaza Strip has been crippled by a 12-year Israeli imposed siege which has led the UN to warn the enclave will be “unlivable” by 2020.
