Palestinian children from the besieged Gaza Strip held a press conference yesterday and called on the world to stop Israel’s policy of “starvation, extermination and displacement” practised against them, stressing the need to put the “killers” on trial, Anadolu news agency reported.
Gathered outside Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, surrounded by the rubble of buildings that have been repeatedly bombed by Israel, the children read out statements in both Arabic and English.
“Since October 7, we have been subjected to annihilation, killing and displacement and missiles are falling on our heads in full view of the world,” one of the children said.
“They [Israelis] lie that they are targeting resistance fighters, but we, as children, have survived death more than once. We took refuge in Al-Shifa Hospital to escape bombing repeatedly, but we were surprised that the Israeli occupation began to threaten us in this place, which has become our only refuge.”
The Israeli occupation is starving us, and for many days we cannot find water or bread and drink polluted water.
Since the beginning of its indiscriminate and ruthless war on Gaza, Israel has killed 4,237 children, while many of them are still trapped under the rubble of their homes.
As part of its genocidal war, Israel has cut off water, food, medicine, electricity and fuel to Gaza, where approximately 2.3 million Palestinians live, a majority of them children.
Concluding their statement the children called on the world to protect them. “Stop the death and destruction. We want life and peace, we want medicine and food, and we want the killers to be tried.”
