Israeli authorities this morning demolished part of a house belonging to the Al-Zabarqa family in the city of Lod, under the pretext that it did not have the necessary building licence.
Police forces provided protection for bulldozers and vehicles of the Israeli authorities as they carried out the demolition.
The house that was demolished belonged to the Al-Zabarqa family, and had been inhabited for decades.
Fares Al-Zabarqa, told Arab48: “The family repeatedly tried to obtain building permits, but the authorities refused to do so. The demolition took place despite the family’s legal attempts to stop the decision.”
This operation comes within the framework of a racist policy aimed at restricting the Arabs in the city
he added.
He stressed that “the demolition included only the extension to the old house that was built 20 years ago, adding that the authorities are pursuing Arab families even for building balconies on their homes.”
