The Israeli occupation army yesterday announced that it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen towards central Israel, Ma’an news agency reported citing an army spokesperson.
“Following the activation of alarms in several areas in the centre of the country, the Israeli Air Force successfully intercepted a surface-to-surface missile launched from Yemen,” the spokesperson said.
He added that the missile was intercepted outside the country’s borders using the Arrow Missile Defence System.
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the ballistic missile launched from Yemen towards the Tel Aviv area coincided with preparations for the 7 October memorial ceremony in Yarkon Park, Tel Aviv, where sirens could be heard.
Yemen’s Houthi group has been targeting Israeli sites using missiles “in solidarity with Gaza”.
