The Israeli occupation army has ordered displaced Lebanese families not to return to their villages in southern Lebanon as Israeli troops are still present there.
This came as a US- French brokered ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A spokesman for the Israeli occupation army said any movement by Lebanese residents towards villages or areas in the vicinity of Israeli forces in southern Lebanon endangers the residents’ lives.
“For the residents’ safety and the security of their families,” movement south of the Litani River is prohibited from 5pm until 7am this morning, the army said, threatening to “deal firmly” with any movement that violates these instructions.
The Israeli army said those north of the Litani River were prohibited from moving south, and asked those south of the river to remain in place.
It claimed that the measures were part of the ceasefire agreement, noting that its military presence in the area would continue.
