Israel feeds female Palestinian prisoners mouldy food, rights groups warn

Specialised institutions concerned with prisoner affairs have revealed serious violations carried out by jailers against female Palestinian prisoners in Israel’s Damon Prison, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.

The institutions indicated that the prison guards strip search female prisoners and hold them in isolation without their hijabs in rooms which are CCTV monitors 24 hours a day.

It was reported that the situation has deteriorated to the point where they receive mouldy bread during the week, and one of the meals contained a small amount of spoiled hummus.

According to the latest statistics released by prisoner organisations, 89 women are held in Damon Prison, four of whom are from Gaza, however their identities are unknown.
