Israeli occupation forces carried out a large-scale demolition yesterday, destroying more than 70 shops and commercial structures, as well as a three-storey building which was under construction in Al-Dhahiriya in the southern occupied West Bank, Ma’an News reported.

According to Al-Dhahiriya Municipality, the demolitions resulted in losses worth millions of shekels and cut off the income sources for hundreds of Palestinian families who depend on these shops.

The occupation forces stormed Al-Dhahiriya early in the morning with a large number of military vehicles and bulldozers, closing the area completely and preventing residents from moving freely while the demolitions were underway.

During the operation, Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas at residents who had gathered to stop the destruction; at least two people suffering from suffocation due to inhaling tear gas as a result.
