'I've worked since I was 12 to build a home, now it's rubble'

After 8 months of displacement in the south of Gaza, a Palestinian man returns to his home to find it has been reduced to rubble. 'I’ve been working since I was 12,' he told MEMO's Mohammed Asad, 'I was just a porter.' 'Every week I’d get 10 [concrete] blocks or so to build my house...Now I’ve come back but there’s no longer a house.' A ceasefire deal, mediated by the US, Qatar and Egypt, brought an end to a 15-month, relentless Israeli war on the besieged Gaza Strip. Since the deal took effect, displaced Palestinians in Gaza have been returning to their decimated neighbourhoods.
