According to German newspaper, Der Spiegel, the CIA has been spying on Al-Jazeera network and successfully infiltrated its internal network of communication.
Der Spiegel reported that a document released by whistle-blower Edward Snowden from 2006 stated that the United States agency had succeeded in obtaining information from important sources, which Al-Jazeera had maintained were confidential. The US agency described the successful infiltration of the station’s confidential documents as an outstanding national success.
The Washington Post had previously reported that documents exposed by Snowden had revealed that, in 2011, U.S. intelligence agencies have carried out 231 operations which penetrated foreign sites and installed tracking programs to spy on them.
