China has warned that a military strike against Syria would damage the global economy.

Zhu Guangyao, China’s Deputy Minister of Finance, told a press conference on the sidelines of the G20 summit, “The military action will have negative consequences on the global economy, in particular oil prices, which will rise.”

The government in Beijing has renewed its calls for a peaceful solution to the conflict.
