Israel earns $620m pa from occupation of Jordan Valley

Israel’s illegal occupation of the Jordan Valley is worth $620 million per annum to the national economy.

The figure was disclosed by Palestinian Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat, who pointed out that this is only possible because the Israelis have uprooted the land’s Palestinian owners for “security” reasons to clear the way for illegal Jewish settlers.

Speaking while showing foreign diplomats the situation in the area, Erekat noted that the occupation authorities control 84 per cent of the Jordan Valley, from the Dead Sea in the south to Bissan in the north, a distance of just over 100 kilometres.

“The Israeli occupation also takes over 82 per cent of the available water supply and places it at the disposal of the settlers,” added the veteran negotiator.
