February 17, 2014 at 11:19 pm

William Hague has arrived in Cairo for meetings with Egyptian officials to discuss bilateral cooperation. Britain’s Foreign Secretary is being accompanied by British businessmen. They are due to meet President Mohammed Morsi, Prime Minister Hisham Qandeel and Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr.

“We will discuss how the UK can support the political and economic transition in Egypt and further expand our commercial links,” Hague told journalists on his arrival at Cairo Airport. He is planning to discuss the horizons of cooperation between both countries which will help to improve the political and economic transition in Egypt.

Whilst in Cairo, Mr. Hague will also meet representatives of the British business community and give a speech to young entrepreneurs at the British Embassy.

Several sources expect Egyptian officials to raise the issue of money and property embezzled by members of the ousted regime who live in the UK, and how they might be extradited to face justice in Egypt.
