The Ministry of Health in Gaza is warning of an impending disaster, one that is inevitable as a result of the increasing number of power outages to affect the area. The siege on the Gaza Strip has resulted in the restriction of access to fuel for the power plants in Gaza and as a result of these power outages homes are struggling for 16 hours a day with no electricity. The government and other institutions in the Gaza Strip have been warning about this inevitability for some time now but the world has done nothing to help. The next warning that is being issued is that if something is not done about power access to the Gaza Strip the next victims will be the patients lying helplessly in hospitals. The electricity generator at the hospital can not work continuously and power cuts will affect ventilation machines, patient monitoring devices and so on, and doctors in the Intensive Care Unit in Al Shifa Hospital (where the below images were taken) are warning of the catastrophic effect that these power outages will have on these patients and many others if power supplies are not stabilised and returned to optimum levels immediately.
