A delegation from the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) is to visit the Gaza Strip which the government in Gaza believes will “indicate the depth of genuine Arab solidarity with the Palestinian people”. The decision to go ahead with the visit was made by the APU’s Executive Committee, which has authorised the Egyptian Parliament to make the necessary arrangements.
According to a statement released by the Governmental Committee for Receiving Delegations in Gaza, the proposed visit – following the lead taken by European parliamentarians who were in Gaza last week – will help to highlight further the suffering of Gaza’s 1.5 million people struggling under the immoral Israeli blockade for the past 3 years.
