May 4, 2014 at 12:18 pm

Leader of the April 6 Youth Movement Ahmed Maher said in a leaked letter from his jail that public figures’ support to the coup leader Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi will not protect them.

Maher slammed a number of pro-coup figures who endorsed Sisi, including members of the secular coalition that formed the core opposition to Mohamed Morsi. Maher named the following figures in his letter: Abdelgelil Mostafa, Mohamed Ghonim, Abulezz Al-Hariri, Ahmed Bahaa Shaaban, Osama Al-Ghazali Harb, Bahaa Taher, Gamal Fahmy, Hamdy Qandil, Khaled Yousef, Skeina Fouad, Shahinda Mekled, Abdel-Halim Qandil, Abdelrahman Al-Abnoudi, Ammar Ali Hassan, Farida Al-Shoubashi, Karima Al-Hifnawy, Magdy Ahmed Ali, Mohamed Nour Farahat, Nour Al-Huda Zaki, Mamdouh Hamza, and Amr Ezzat.

The above figures have all lent their support to the overthrow of elected president Mohamed Morsi on July 3, 2013. They have also endorsed Sisi for his presidency bid.

Maher says that those figures accused him of treason and serving foreign entities. However, he addressed them saying that when former regimes tried to distort their image, he did not believe their rumors.

Maher warned the above mentioned figures saying: “Your hypocrisy to the new pharaoh will not protect you.”
