Poll: 65% of Israelis do not want Netanyahu as Prime Minister

Nearly 65 per cent of Israelis do not want the head of the Likud party Benjamin Netanyahu as head of the next government, a poll revealed on Saturday.

Israel’s Channel 2 conducted the poll on behalf of the Meet the Press programme which showed that 65 per cent of respondents do not want to see Netanyahu as president of the next Israeli government. However, when asked about the best suited politician to take over the post, Netanyahu received the highest percentage with 36 per cent of the respondents answering in his favour.

People’s choice for prime minister:

  • Benjamin Netanyahu – 36%
  • Avigdor Lieberman – 10%
  • Naftali Bennett – 10%
  • Isaac Herzog – 10%
  • Tzipi Livni – 8%
  • Moshe Kahlon – 7%
  • Yesh Atid – 5%
  • Moshe Ya’alon – 3%
  • Undecided – 12%

The channel pointed out that participants were presented with a list of Israeli politicians from which to choose from.

When asked which party they would vote for, 39 per cent of respondents said they would vote for the same party they voted for in the last election, while 27 per cent said they would vote for another party, 15 per cent said they had not decided as yet, while six per cent said that though they had voted in the past, they would refrain this. Eleven per cent said they did not know if they would be voting or not.

When asked about participating in the vote, 71 per cent confirmed that they would vote, while 24 per cent said they were likely to vote.
