Creating new perspectives since 2009

Drawing a smile on faces of Gaza’s children

February 10, 2015 at 12:20 pm

A team of volunteers from the Palestine Trauma Centre toured the area where ten children from Al-Shati Refugee Camp were martyred on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr during the most recent war on Gaza seven months ag. The team hoped to put smiles on the faces of Gaza’s children.

Children in this area have experienced two or three wars over the past few years, lost siblings, parents, or friends.

The fragments of the missiles that killed ten children in this very place are still there. The children were killed while playing in the playground on this street. Traces of the incident are seen on the walls and doors of the houses on the street, but that is the circle of life, renewed hope and trying to live in peace, even if by overcoming grief.

The organisers said that they must make an effort to bring happiness and a smile to the faces of these children, even with the simplest games and activities in order to erase the memories of this painful anniversary.
