Mass arrests against Dahlan supporters in West Bank

February 24, 2015 at 9:50 am

The Palestinian Authority’s security apparatus continued its campaign against supporters of Mohammed Dahlan, the dismissed Fatah official, in the occupied West Bank.

In an exclusive statement to Alresalah.net, a Palestinian official said yesterday that the security services have arrested more than 20 Dahlan supporters and put them in the PA’s jails without giving clear reasons for the “brutal” arrest campaign carried out against them over the past few days.

The Palestinian official pointed out that the arrests began more than 10 days ago and is ongoing. It targeted Fatah leaders and cadres from the Gaza Strip, who are in the West Bank and are seen to be supporters of Dahlan.

The same official noted that the argument the PA spreads regarding its extensive arrest campaigns is “imposing security and prosecuting those who shot at leaders of the Fatah movement and the PA in the West Bank in the past few days”.

Last week, the security services arrested Fatah member Alaa Yaghi leading to a large condemnation by the movement’s members of parliament in the Gaza Strip.
