Egypt’s Al- Sharq TV said it had obtained information of the method used to spy on President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi’s office during his term as the country’s defence minister.

Presenter Moataz Matar said during his daily “With Motaz” show that WO Mic spyware was used to record Al-Sisi’s office manager Abbas Kamel’s calls with senior military officials and gulf ministers as well as with Al-Sisi himself.

According to Matar, a friend close to both Al-Sisi and Kamel gave the latter a “smart phone” as a gift with the spyware, worth only $5, already installed in it.

Matar pointed out that over 2,880 hours of phone calls were recorded using the spyware.

An international laboratory specialised in the analysis of voices confirmed earlier that the voices heard in the leaked audio recordings are that of Al-Sisi and Kamel.
